Private Label Jewelry Packaging, Branding and Certificates for Lab-Grown Diamond Brands

A new brand designs a gold-edged card for each ring. It is headed “Certificate”, has boxes for carat, color and clarity, and a serial number. A customer later shows it to another jeweler as a laboratory report, and the brand has to explain that it graded the stone itself. The card was accurate. It just looked like something it was not.

Private label means the jewelry is made for you and sold under your brand. Beyond the design itself, you need to specify brand stamping, packaging, certificates or reports, inserts and labeling, and make sure everything that reaches the customer states lab-grown origin clearly. Decide these at the sampling stage so they are approved with the golden sample.

Stamping

Typical marks: karat or platinum mark (e.g. 14K, 585, PT950), your brand mark, and sometimes “LAB” or “LGD” for lab-grown. Confirm the marking requirements of your sales market; some countries have hallmarking rules for precious metals.

Reports and certificates

Option What it is When it fits
Lab report (IGI, GIA, NGTC) Independent grading of a stone Center stones and larger stones
Brand certificate card Your own document describing the piece All pieces; must not imply independent grading
Parcel or piece description Melee total weight and quality range Pavé and accent stones

Your own brand card should describe the piece accurately: metal, stone type (“lab-grown diamond”), total weight and quality range. Don’t style it to look like an independent lab report.

Disclosure on everything

Under the FTC Jewelry Guides, a lab-grown stone described as a diamond needs a qualifier such as “laboratory-grown,” “laboratory-created” or “[manufacturer name]-created” right beside the word (16 CFR 23.12). “Cultured” may be used only with a clear statement that the stone is not mined, and words such as “real,” “genuine” or “natural” must not be used for it (23.27). Put that on packaging inserts, tags, cards and online listings, not only the invoice.

Packaging choices

  • Materials and finish (wood, leatherette, paper, recycled board).
  • Logo method (foil, emboss, print).
  • Sizes for each product type.
  • Outer cartons and protective packing for shipping.
  • Environmental claims on packaging must be specific and substantiated.

Hallmarking rules by market

Some markets require precious metal articles to be independently hallmarked. In the UK, for example, gold articles above a minimum weight must be hallmarked by an assay office before sale. Check the rules for each country you sell in before finalizing stamps.

Packaging claims in the EU

If your packaging or inserts make environmental claims and you sell in the EU, note that Directive (EU) 2024/825 restricts generic environmental claims and non-certified sustainability labels from 27 September 2026. Use specific, substantiated wording.

Private label questions

Can lab reports carry my brand?

No. Independent lab reports carry the lab’s branding. You can add your own branded card.

Do I need to stamp “lab-grown” on the piece?

Not always required, but many brands do. Always disclose lab-grown origin on tags, cards and listings.

What should a brand certificate card include?

Metal, stone type (lab-grown diamond), weight and quality range, and care information.

Does packaging have its own minimum order?

Usually, yes. Boxes, pouches and printed cards are made in runs, so confirm minimums per item alongside the jewelry order.

Send your artwork with the sample brief

Send stamp artwork, packaging and card text with the sample brief, so they are approved with the golden sample rather than after it, and ask which items have their own minimums. NUVU signs an NDA on request and handles private label lab-grown diamond jewelry with your logo, labels, barcodes, jewelry boxes and outer packing, and can arrange IGI, GIA or NGTC reports for center stones. Private label and OEM or send your requirements, WhatsApp / WeChat +86 191 1840 3930.
